Other Sources of Help

Even if you don't qualify for the extra help available through the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, there are other programs that may help you pay for your prescription drugs:

  • State Pharmacy Assistance Programs (SPAPs): Many states have what are called "State Pharmacy Assistance Programs." These programs help people with limited incomes with their prescription drug costs.
  • Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs): Many drug manufacturers have programs that help people with limited incomes afford their medicines. These are called "Patient Assistance Programs" or PAPs. Through these programs, many drug manufacturers offer the drugs they make for free, or at a discount.
